Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Set + Reflect ("the app") collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. Set + Reflect is a micro-journaling and mood-tracking app.

Information we collect

When you create an account and use the app, we collect:

• Account information: your email address, and either a password (stored as a one-way cryptographic hash — we never store or can see your actual password) or, if you sign in with Google, your Google account's email, name, and account ID.
• Content you create: your journal entries, mood ratings, and any category ratings or custom categories you add.
• App-generated content: AI-generated reflections based on your entries, and badges/achievements earned from your activity.

We do not collect location data, contacts, photos, or device advertising identifiers.

How we use your information

• To provide the core functionality of the app — saving and showing you your entries, trends, and insights.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To generate the optional AI reflections feature: when you request a reflection, the relevant entry text and ratings are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the response. See Anthropic's privacy policy for how they handle data sent to their API.

We do not sell your personal information or journal content to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.

Third-party services we use

• Neon — hosts our database (your account and entry data).
• Railway — hosts our backend server.
• Anthropic — processes entry content to generate AI reflections, only when you request one.
• Google — if you choose "Continue with Google," Google provides us your basic account details to create your account.

Data security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. Access to the database is restricted to our backend server.

Data retention and deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app, or without opening the app at set-and-reflect-api-production.up.railway.app/delete-account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, entries, ratings, reflections, and earned badges — this cannot be undone. You can also request deletion by emailing us at the address below.

Children's privacy

Set + Reflect is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
